Welcome

November 29th, 2017

During the past few years, I have envisioned writing a series of critical reflections and personal observations about dance. On one level, these posts will be an informal account of studio experiments, aesthetic ideas, and Zephyr initiatives. On another level, the posts will offer an opportunity to more formally develop the critical thinking that, as a discipline, is vital to creative work.

Throughout the coming months I look forward to posing questions and exploring thoughts centered on dance and movement, both as a practice in and of itself, as well as, its relationship to other disciplines. Some initial posts will address expanding the definition of dance, investigating the strengths and limitations of the aging body, and examining what it means to develop a “late style” as a dancemaker. Thank you for taking the time to read these thoughts.
